Finally @ 40 years old, my husband Toby and daughter Chloe got to fulfill my longtime dream of visiting two islands, Maui & Kauai, which was the favorite of the two. When we got to Kauai on January 8, 2010, I cried because I knew just then why I had been carrying my dream for so long.
I had been told that the best way to book any activity was to book online. And that’s exactly what I did, except that when I called Safari Helicopters to find out the times the flights are, not only was the price right, but the gal who answered was very informative, and sounded like she’s “ been there; done that”. When Searle or the shuttle driver, who was also a comedian, got up to give us a safety briefing, he was not only good at what he does, but he had us falling over with laughter. And then it was time to leave for the heliport. Once we were on board, and the pilot started his safety briefing, all six of us knew that he was going to give us all an unforgettable experience. Oh my God, was that flight the best of the Best! Thank you GB.

As a retired regular Naval officer, (USN-Ret) and also a naval aviator, I was especially looking forward to the experience of seeing the “Garden Island” from the air, especially the close-up views of the canyons!!! Although I never qualified in helicopters, I did end up specializing as an aeronautical engineering duty only (AEDO) officer and my specialty was helicopter turboshaft engine development in the 1950s including the GE T58 and T64 engines as well as the Lycoming T53 and T55 engines. “Aloha. Captain Jim was awesome! This was our second flight and by far the best of the two. We went with your competition on the island of Maui, and were disappointed as the captain did not maneuver the helicopter around so that the different passengers were able to see everything and allow us all to take photo’s from different angles. Captain Jim did this very well (he even gave us pointers on how to take better pictures) and is obviously an expert in what he does. The competition may have better looking graphics, but Safari and Captain Jim blew the competition away! This made up for our first disappointing flight and made for a very exciting and rewarding experience for me and my husband. This was our first time in Hawaii, and we will be back!
